Install Day : What to Expect and Preparation

Thank you for approving your Jellystream Lighting Estimate.  We appreciate your business.

Congratulations!  Your home or business is about to look amazing!

Here are some things to expect and plan for during your installation day.

  1. THE DATE
Jellystream Lighting will contact you regarding your installation date and we will set the installation date with your knowledge and approval.
  2. THE DURATION
Depending on the size of the home/business, installation may take several days.  Typically a home/business that has a total distance of 200 linear feet or less can be done in a single day.  Distances that are 200-300 feet typically take approximately 2 days. Every additional 150ft adds another day for the installation… and so on. We will discuss the estimated installation duration with you prior to the start of the installation.
  3. PREPARATION
There isn’t very much for you to do for the installation. Please keep the following in mind in order to help us expedite the installation and minimize issues or delays.

    1. CARS AND DRIVEWAY
Please have your cars removed from the driveway and be at least 30 feet from the home/business.  We typically will back our installation trailer or truck into your driveway and we will be unloading a lot of material and equipment in the driveway and using it as our work area.  If our installation is expected to take more than a single day, we typically request permission from the homeowner that we leave our installation trailer in the driveway overnight so that we can arrive in the following day(s) and get started right  away.
    2. HOME/BUSINESS ACCESS / ATTIC ACCESS
Jellystream Lighting will need access to the interior of the home/business in order to install the Controller box.  All power lines will be run from the outside soffit area of the home/business to this Controller Box.  We will need to have access to the inside of the home/business and attic throughout the day in order to complete this wiring.  If you have things stored in the attic, please do your best to move it slightly so as to allow our installers better access to the necessary attic areas.
    3. CLIENT AVAILABILITY
We request that someone be available to speak with at all times during the installation.  Not all homes/businesses are alike and sometimes a situation arises that requires a decision to be made.  If a question or unique installation circumstance arises, we would like the homeowner to be available so that we can inform them of the situation and get their opinion and/or approval before the installation continues.
    4. LADDERS
We will have large ladders set up around the home/business.  Please ensure that obstacles that are around the home/business are moved into an area that eliminates unnecessary interference and allows us to efficiently get our ladders set up on the home/business without difficulty or hardship.  These are things like outdoor tables, chairs, trash cans, potted plants, string lights, etc…
    5. ELECTRICAL ACCESS/ELECTRICAL OUTLET
Some of our tools may require normal electrical power from an outlet.  If there is a preferred outlet that we may use, please let us know.  Typically this outlet should be near the work area space that we have established.  The controller also requires power in order to operate.  We will discuss with the client the optimal place to install the Controller so that it has the appropriate electrical access and also the most efficient location for all power lines that need to be run.
    6. PETS
Please ensure that pets are kept inside the home/business while we perform our work.  Also, please have all pet feces removed  from the yard area to help prevent our installers from stepping in it.
    7. WIFI ACCESS
Our Controllers typically use WIFI to operate.  They can also use hard-wired CAT-5/6 wires if it is readily accessible, but Jellystream Lighting does not provide any of the CAT-5/6 wiring.  We do not freely provide CAT-5/6 hard-wired installation if it is not readily available, but we can certainly perform the hard-wired installation if the wires are provided and it is an easy connection to a local router or WIFI device.  Normally, WIFI connectivity is all that is needed.  Please ensure that whatever room that is selected for the Controller installation has good WIFI signal strength and the the WIFI frequency is 2.4GHz (this is the default frequency for most WIFI routers).  Lastly, please have your WIFI SSID and Password ready and written down so that our Controller installer can view it and use it to integrate the Controller into your WIFI system quickly and efficiently.
    8. BATHROOM AVAILABILITY
Although it doesn’t happen often, sometimes our installer(s) may need to use the bathroom.  Please let us know which bathroom is preferred.
    9. WIRE VISIBILTY
Jellystream Lighting does our best to make sure that LITTLE TO NO WIRES are visible after the installation is complete.  Sometimes a situation arises were a wire may need to be installed on the exterior of the home/business in order to provide power to a “difficult to reach” soffit area.  Jellystream Lighting will do our best to use existing elements (such as downspouts or siding J-channels) to hide the wire.  Occasionally, if an existing element cannot be used, Jellystream Lighting may be forced to install some exterior conduit on the home/business in order to hide any exposed wires.  Unfortunately, in rare circumstances, sometimes a situation arises where a small section of wire is visible and cannot be completely hidden. We will inform the client if this case arises.
    10. CLEANLINESS AND CLEANUP
We will take appropriate measures to ensure that the interior and exterior of the home/business are left in a similar condition as to when we arrived.  We have a vacuum to ensure that carpets are clean before we depart.  Additionally, we will do our best to return any items on the outside of the home/business to their original position prior to our departure.  If you have any concerns or notice something we are missing, please bring it to our attention immediately prior to our final departure.
  4. RUNNING WIRES / HOME/BUSINESS ALTERATIONS
It is necessary for our installers to place small holes in various soffit areas in order to get the wires from the inside of the home/business to the exterior of the home/business to power the lights.  Additionally, holes will need to be made in the soffits in order to “jump” a particular lighting section to another lighting section.  This is COMPLETELY NORMAL. You may see or hear our installers placing these holes in various locations around the home/business and in the attic.  Please rest assured that the exterior soffit holes will be covered by the track and will NOT be visible at the completion of the installation.
  5. TRAINING
Immediately upon completion of the installation on the final day, our head installer will assist the client in downloading the JellyFish Designer Cloud app onto their phone or other mobile device and we will assist the client in setting up the app, connecting the controller tot he created account, adding the appropriate lighting zones to the home/business and then providing approximately 30-60 minutes of training to the customer on how to use the app.  Additionally an email will be sent to the client  after the installation is complete that has links to online training videos in case the client would like to learn more.
  6. FINAL PAYMENT
Please have the remaining balance that is due for the installation ready immediately at the conclusion of the installation.  Jellystream Lighting accepts cash, checks, money orders and credit cards.  NOTE: All credit card payments will incur a 3% processing fee.

In conclusion, please let us know if you have any other concerns or questions regarding the installation.  Communication is important and we will answer any questions or concerns that you have to the best of our ability.
