GETTING TO KNOW THE JELLYFISH CONTROLLER

The Jellyfish Controller is the computer and power source that runs the lights.  It plugs into a 115V normal home outlet and converts the power into a 48V DC power source to run the lights.  It also receives the “control signal” from the JF Mobile App and outputs that control signal to tell the lights what to do and how to act.  (Preset, Color, Speed, Brightness, Zoning, etc…)

THE DISPLAY

The rectangular opening in the Controller displays the following:

1. LIGHT POWER BUTTON – This button will manually turn the lights ON and OFF (hold for 5 seconds).
NOTE: This does NOT turn off the Controller.  It only turns the lights ON/OFF manually.  To turn the Controller ON/OFF there is a toggle switch on the bottom of the Controller box on the left side.

2. LED BAR – This is the top horizontal bar above the LCD display that will light up when the lights are on in an attempt to emulate the actual lighting that is being displayed on the outside of the home by the JellyFish Lights.

3. LCD DISPLAY – This is the LCD display that shows several informative things when in normal steady state mode

    • DATE/TIME
    • WIFI OR ETHERNET CONNECTION TYPE AND STRENGTH [0-9]
      * (asterisk) means that you are connected via WIFI
      # (pound) means that you are connected via Ethernet
!C means that you are not connected to any network
    • SETUP and SERVICE MENUS

SETUP and SERVICE MENUS

The SETUP and SERVICE MENUS are administrative menus that can be accessed directly on the Controller to change certain properties and configurations of the Controller.

Here are the various screens that can be accessed via each menu:

SETUP MENU

To access the “Setup Menu,” press and hold the menu button for 2 seconds.

Setup Menu Subdirectories:

  • DATE – Allows you to manually change the DATE on the controller.  This normally isn’t necessary since the Controller should have internet access once it is connected to a local network and should be able to get the local DATE from the internet based on the Time Zone settings in the JF Mobile App.
  • TIME – Allows you to manually change the TIME on the controller.  This normally isn’t necessary since the Controller should have internet access once it is connected to a local network and should be able to get the local TIME from the internet based on the Time Zone settings in the JF Mobile App.
  • WIFI

    • ACCESS POINT – This will allow you to turn ON/OFF the Controller as an Access Point.  In other words, turning this OFF would stop the Controller from emitting the JELLYFISH-XXXX SSID as a WIFI Network.  This is useful for Controller located in a public area, so that unauthorized people cannot find and access the Controller WIFI SSID directly.
    • RESTART WIFI – Restarts the WIFI service on the controller. This forces the Controller to disconnect from WIFI and attempt to find and reconnect to the local WIFI using the pre-established WIFI connection settings.
  • IP ADDRS – If the Controller is connected to a local network, this will tell you the local LAN IP Address that the Controller was assigned by the router.

SERVICE MENU

To access the “Service Menu,” press and hold the menu button for 7 seconds.

Service Menu Subdirectories:

  • WIFI STATE – Allows you to turn WIFI ON or OFF.  Not normally used… but can be turned OFF if the Controller is hard-wired using an Ethernet connection
  • WIFI RESET – Allows you to manually reset the Controller’s WIFI connection back to the factory default.  This causes the controller to completely “forget” any WIFI connection that it previously had and will require you to go through the WIFI Setup process to reconnect o WIFI

CONTROLLING YOUR LIGHTS BY ONLY USING THE CONTROLLER FRONT PANEL

This is normally not necessary since your JellyFish Lighting system is designed to be easily controlled directly from your mobile phone or other smart device using the JF Mobile App.

However, if desired, you can control your lights from the front panel of your controller.

  • To access the lighting Preset Categories, push MENU two times.
  • Push MENU again and again to navigate through the categories
  • Once you reach the category you want, ARROW LEFT and RIGHT to navigate through the programs in that category.
  • Once you are on the program you want you can ARROW UP and DOWN to change the Brightness [BR] and Speed [SP]
    • Brightness defaults at 100% [BR100]
